Publishing site /Christian Bias
When I first uploaded my book review to Scribd.com in March of 2009 little did I know just what I was in for! First there was the mysterious virus that would attack my book review every time that I tried to down load the document or upload a revision. It would turn my book review into Chinese!
It would ONLY attack a file named:
From-Buddha-to-Jesus-by-Steve-Cioccolanti-A-Review-by-Bhikkhu-aggacitto
At first I thought that the site was being hacked and my document being attacked but then I decided to try an experiment…
To publish I would rename the file and then edit it back after it was published. It worked! This meant that there was something at the Scribd.com site that was recognizing my title for this document and then attaching a virus when I was trying to publish!
I know this may seem unbelievable but I have really pissed some people off with this book review! I would as well presume that there are many whom are not great fans of my other articles either!
After I let them know that it was pretty apparent that THEY were the source of this for the above mentioned reason the virus attacks seem to have subsided. Of course they certainly have OTHER tricks up their sleeve!
Then there IS the problem of not being able to upload a revision without being told that there is an ERROR and then…INVALID INPUT FILE. They tell me my file must not be any good to upload a revision! This ONLY occurs at Scribd.com! The file is good ANYWHERE else!
Then there was the problem of the Google link that would appear and disappear!
Normally when you publish something at Scribd.com the Google link would appear in seconds. Not with my book review!
You SHOULD be able to type in “From Buddha To Jesus” and have the Scribd.document with this review come up somewhere! Once upon a time it USED to! If you put “a review by Bhikkhu aggacitto” behind that it then will but… what about those who don’t know of my review? The purpose of the Google link is to give your doc. some publicity, so what would be the point so much for those who ALREADY knew of it?
If you went to the search box at Scribd.com and type in the full name of this doc it would tell you that no such document exists! Even though it was published at the Scribd.com site!
I have already had to delete and then re summit this document by changing the title when uploading and then editing it back after it is published when I wanted to revise but now THIS no longer even works!
There is the fact that if you were to download my review and then open up an account or use an existing one you will find it IMPOSSIBLE to upload!
Sure it will SAY: SUCCESSFUL! When you try this but when you go to “Your Documents” it will NOT be there!
Support@scribd.com is no help!
They just keep finding ways to deny that there is anything that they can do! At this point it has just gotten really ridiculous!
They say that their mission is to “liberate the written word”!
THIS IS SO FUNNY!
COULD ALL OF THIS JUST BE COINSIDENCE?
In a way I guess it should be seen as a complement for my book review.
A job apparently TOO well done!
Recently I tried to publish some of my articles at the Farlex Free Library, the result? As you can expect, more of the same.A document half published, soft sabotage typo's,
non existent search engine link's.The maximum word requirement for an article there is 50,000 word's. The document in question is only 10,181. I wrote them a letter and asked them about the situation, and what a surprise! There has been no response, other than to freeze all approval of any pending articles! These are of course people who, if they thought that the "word of Christ" was being inhibited in any way, would squeal like little pigs!
UPDATE: Yes, the Google link showed up for the Farlex Free Library Site but only after the document and others were deleted!
Simply put there are those who will say that they want to give you the "truth", but in reality, it is the truth that they fear.
There is no factual truth that should ever fear examination.
It does not surprise me that there are many, Christian or otherwise who do not seem to agree.
